AION 2 class tier list
An honest AION 2 class tier list for the October 2026 launch window: a community-consensus ranking of all eight classes by group demand, solo-leveling comfort and execution difficulty — with the criteria shown, not hidden.

How this tier list is judged
NC publishes no official class rankings, so any tier list is an editorial act — and it should say what it's optimizing for. This one weighs three things:
- Group demand. How hard it is to find that role in dungeon and raid rosters. Tanks and healers are chronically scarce in every launch window, and scarcity is power for the player.
- Solo comfort. How painlessly the class levels to the current cap and farms dailies alone — where most of your first 40+ hours happen.
- Execution floor. How much performance you lose by playing the class averagely. A class that only works in expert hands ranks lower for the average reader, and this page is written for the average reader.
What we deliberately don't do: quote DPS numbers, simulate rotations, or pretend a tier exists where the community hasn't formed one yet. Launch-window data is thin — the ranking below is a synthesis of current community guides and discussion, labeled with its date, and it will move as the meta settles.
The rankings
Launch-window standouts
Scarce roles the whole endgame needs, plus the solo-leveling workhorses.
Templar
The only dedicated main tank. Dungeon groups cannot form without one, and tank scarcity at launch means instant queues and guaranteed raid slots.
Cleric
The only class with full direct-healing, cleanse and resurrection. Same scarcity story as Templar — the endgame runs on healers.
Ranger
The strongest combination of easy execution and high output: ranged, mobile, excellent for solo leveling and a welcome slot in any group.
Strong and dependable
Powerful classes with a caveat — either a steeper learning curve or a narrower group role.
Gladiator
Valuable hybrid that backfills tank or DPS, with solid damage in its own right. Needs more gear investment than a pure tank to anchor harder content.
Sorcerer
Top-tier magic damage that punishes mistakes — dead sorcerers deal zero damage. Excellent in practiced hands, frustrating in first ones.
Chanter
Party-wide buffs and mantra healing make Chanters welcome everywhere, though groups prefer a Cleric for heal-intensive encounters.
Elementalist
Relaxed, pet-assisted damage with steady output. Slightly behind burst classes in optimized groups, ahead of them in comfort.
Good — for the right player
Not weak; demanding. These rankings reflect the average launch-window player, not the ceiling.
Assassin
Burst damage with the highest execution demands in the roster — stealth, positioning, timing windows. Experts swear by it; newcomers quit it. If melee burst is your thing in every game you play, ignore this tier and play it.
The DPS view
Searching for an AION 2 DPS tier list specifically? Compress the table above and the damage-dealing order in the launch window reads: Ranger → Sorcerer → Gladiator → Assassin → Elementalist. Ranger leads on output-per-effort; Sorcerer out-damages it in practiced hands but bleeds performance to mistakes; Gladiator carries hybrid utility; Assassin is ceiling-over-consistency; Elementalist trades peak numbers for comfort. This ordering reflects community consensus documents rather than ours — we re-verify against current guides after each patch before touching it.
Two structural notes the raw ordering hides. First, damage-dealer competition is real: four of eight classes deal damage, so group slots favor the rarer roles above. Second, hybrid value compounds in small rosters — a Gladiator that can off-tank turns a fragile comp into a stable one, which optimized raid groups pay for even when its raw damage trails.
When this list moves
Class balance in AION 2 moves with content patches — the KR/TW Chapter 1 update in July 2026 shipped combat overhauls alongside the new region, and the global servers follow a similar cadence. The durable parts of this page are the criteria and the role economics; the tier placements are the perishable part, and they're labeled with a snapshot date so you always know how stale you're reading. After each major patch we recheck the consensus sources and update in place.
AION 2 class tier list FAQ
- What is the best DPS class in AION 2?
- Ranger, for most players in the launch window: top output-per-effort, strong solo play, no punishing execution tax. Sorcerer out-damages it with skill; Assassin has the highest ceiling and the highest frustration rate for everyone else.
- Is there an official AION 2 tier list?
- No — NC publishes no class rankings. This page is an editorial synthesis of community guides, with criteria and snapshot date stated up front so you can judge it accordingly.
- Which class should tank-averse beginners pick?
- Ranger for damage, Elementalist for a relaxed summoner pace, Chanter to support without carrying full healing duty. All three level comfortably solo.
- How often does the AION 2 meta change?
- With patches — major content updates have shipped combat overhauls roughly every few months on the KR/TW cadence the global servers follow. We recheck and relabel this list after each one.
