How the survey really works

Every Family Feud question starts as a phone poll of 100 people, run by an outside research firm. Each answer scores one point per person who said it, and it takes at least two people to put an answer on the board — which is why boards so rarely total 100, and why the internet keeps asking whether the numbers are fake. They aren't: Reddit threads from people who took the actual calls (one, two) describe ordinary market-research questions — and respondents who had no idea a game show was listening. When the board says 57 people steamed vegetables, that's 57 real phone calls.

That mechanism is also the show's comedy engine: the “who DO they survey?!” reaction exists because the board answers to a random sample, not to logic. Home-game players have leaned into it — polling your own 100 people is now a proven way to build a custom round.

Family Feud FAQ

How does Family Feud scoring work?
Every question is answered by a survey of 100 people. Each answer on the board scores one point per person who gave it, and an answer needs at least two people to make the board at all — which is why the visible points almost never add up to 100. Families play to 300 points, then two players race through Fast Money.
Why do Family Feud answers seem so weird?
Because the board reflects 100 randomly phoned strangers, not a writers' room. The surveys are outsourced to a research firm, and Reddit threads from people who took the calls confirm most respondents never knew their answers would end up on a game show. Ordinary people, unfiltered — hence clams on a steam question.
Where can I play Family Feud?
The show is on television in syndication (hosted by Steve Harvey since 2010, with Celebrity Family Feud in prime time). For games: there are official mobile apps such as Family Feud® Live!, long-running home board games, and various online editions — check the official familyfeud.com site for current versions. PlayWiki doesn't host a game; we give you the answers and the boards.
Can I play Family Feud at home with this site?
Yes. Use our questions-and-answers list as your answer key: a host reads each question, teams shout answers, and you score against the recorded board. Flip on game-night mode to blur the answers until they're guessed. For a truly authentic board, poll 100 of your own friends first — Reddit players swear by it.
